Algerian business performance reviewen_US
The aim of this study is to highlight the evolution of the Algerian gas exports and their impact within the Organization of the petroleum exporting countries (OPEC) during the period from 1970 to 2012. The importance of the OPEC in the global energy market can be seen in its ability to cover the global energy demand that is composed of 62.5% of oil and 23.6% of natural gas according to the 2012 OPEC statistics. Being the first exporter of LNG (Liquefied natural gas) in 1964 following the discovery of its largest gas field located in 'Hassi R'Mel ', and since the establishment of the national company ‘Sonatrach’ in 1963; Algeria is working to strengthen the position of its gas industry in the gas market via OPEC on both national and international level, and this can explain why this issue has been the focal point of our study.en_US
