This study highlights the role of NGO’s in the governance of peace-building missions. First we reviewed the multidimensional tasks performed by the NGO’s to sustain a stable peace, then, we explored the restraining factors challenging the effectiveness of NGO’s intervening strategy. Finally, three main obstacles have been pointed out: Limited funding options and bias-related issues; cultural bias that impedes a true involvement of NGO’s and legitimacy-oriented issues that may end into a refusal of NGO’s presence. Thorough structural remedies have to be performed to improve the intervention mechanisms of NGO’s in peace-building efforts.en_US
