The city has occupied a symbolic image in the Algerian contemporary poetry along short intervals, that’s because of the affection feeling of the poet and his psychological sufferings first, as well as, because of social and political troubles. The events that Algeria witnessed during three successive decades starting from the seventies rendered poets afraid and suspicious of the city. That found its reason in frustration and despair that characterized the feeling of the poet. This pessimist image appeared repeatedly in the modern Algerian poem. That reality pushed us to try to expose its manifestations.en_US
