نظرية التحدي و الاستجابة عند أرلوند توينبي

Abstract

ملخص الدراسة إن البحث في فلسفة الحضارة اقتضى من العديد من المؤرخين الغربيين الكتابة في ذلك, ويعد أرنولد توينبي من الفلاسفة المؤرخين الذين اهتموا بدراسة مصير الحضارات الغربية, نظرا للأوضاع السيئة التي استفاق عليها الغرب, ويجسد ذلك في تأسيسه لنظرية التحدي والاستجابة التي بيّن من خلالها كيفية نشوء الحضارات وتعاقبها والمقارنة فيما بينها, وهذا ما دفعنا لاختيار هذا الأنموذج الفلسفي بغية الكشف عن الكيفية التي ناقش بها توينبي موقفه المتميز من الحضارات متخذين ثلاث فصول: ففي الفصل الأول عرفنا بالشخصية وكل مايلم بها, من عصره إلى الأوضاع التي عاشها وأهم إنتاجياته العلمية , مرورا بأهم التيارات الكبرى التي رسمت أفكاره, أما عن الفصل الثاني فقد تناولنا فيه نظرية التحدي والاستجابة من المدلول إلى الأهمية حيث عرّجنا على أنواع كل من التحديات والاستجابات وأهم الأفكار التي تمخضت عن تأسيسه لهذه النظرية مثل فكرة الأبوة والنبوة, وفكرة أوقات الاضطراب...الخ أما عن الفصل الثالث: فقد شمل نظرة توينبي للحضارات حيث قدمنا المفهوم الذي رمى إليه مصطلح الحضارة سواء من وجهة نظره أو من وجهة نظر غيره بالإضافة إلى التعاقب الدوري للحضارات من ميلادها ونموها وصولا إلى انحلالها وفنائها, حيث ميّزنا دراستنا بتطبيق هذه على الحضارة الإسلامية نظرا لأهميتها في دراسة توينبي للحضارات, إذ حاولنا أن نبين كذلك أهم المقترحات التي صاغها توينبي لكي ينقذ الحضارات من الفناء والتحلل.

Abstract Several western historians have conducted researches concerning civilization philosophy. Arlond Toynbee has been one of the philosophers who studied the future of the western civilizations. Regarding to the difficult conditions within western societies, he had established a theory known as the Challenge and the Response in which he explained the emergence of the civilization and the way they had succeeded each other, as well as provided a comparison between them. For this reason we select this philosophical patern in order to investigate the way Toynbee had discussed his opinion about civilization. This study is divided into three parts. In the first part, we defines Toynbee and give information about the era and the conditions in which he lived as well as his scientific products and his movement of thought. In the second part, we deal with his theory of the challenge and the response startinf by giving definitions and its emergence and mentioning all types of the challenges and the responses and the important ideas resulted from his theory such as the idea the fatherhood and the childhood, and the idea of the time of confusion. Whereas, the third part contains Tyonbee’s opinion about civilization. It also presents the different notions of civilization whether from Tyonbee’s point of view or other historians’ piont of view. In addition to this, it introduces the periodical succession of civilization starting from its emergence and development moving to its declination. The purpose of this study is the application of Tyonbee’s theory on the Islamic civilization since it is important in his studies of civilization. Finally, we articulates Tyonbee’s suggestions for rescuing civilizations from declination.
