A corpus-based Analysis of Transitivity English Newspaper Articles: The case of Ennahar,The Washington post and The New York Times

Abstract

In this study, we aim at examining the transitivity patterns used in the selected Algerian and U.S newspapers articles which construct power and ideology. The study follows the descriptive research design to collect both quantitative and qualitative data. The data that is analyzed in this research consists of four selected newspapers articles published in Ennahar Online, the New York times and the Washington Post. The findings show that the differences of lexical choices that are found in media when reporting the same event may result in having totally different ideologies.

dans cette étude, nous voulons examiner les styles réels utilisés dans les journaux américains, qui vise à renforcer le pouvoir et l’idéologie. Cette étude design recherche descriptive pour recueillir des données qualitatives et quantitatives. Les données analysées dans cette étude comprennent de quatre articles publiés dans la journée en ligne, le New York Times et le Washington Post. Les résultats montrent que les différences de vocabulaire sélectionné trouvés dans les médias quand on aborde le même événement peuvent créer idéologies très différentes.

في هذه الدراسة، أننا نهدف إلى دراسة الأنماط الفعلية المستخدمة في الصحف الجزائرية والأمريكية التي تهدف إلى بناء القوة والأيديولوجية. وتتبع هذه الدراسة تصميم بحوث وصفية لجمع البيانات الكمية والنوعية. البيانات التي تم تحليلها في هذا البحث يتكون من أربعة مقالات صحفية نشرت في النهار اونلاين ،نيويورك تايمز و واشنطن بوست. تظهر النتائج أن الاختلافات في المفردات المختارة التي تم العثور عليها فيالمقالات الصحفية عند التطرق لنفس الحدث قد ينجر عنه خلق أيديولوجيات مختلفة تماما.
