Abstract: This work on the relationship between demographic transition and the aging of the population tries to show the statistical relationship between these two phenomena by using multiple regressions. The model that results from the introduction two independent variables "life expectancy and proportion of the population aged under 20 years" and a dependent variable "proportion of people aged 60 years and over" allows to estimate it from an equation of the form y = (ax) + (az) + b. The presentation of this population according to some social and economic characteristics is based on data from the multi-indicators cluster survey carried out in 2012-2013. Among the most salient results, it is interesting to note that 7.7% of this segment of the population is employed and about 2% have a university level of education. In terms of household status, 58.6% are heads of household and 15.5% are father or mother of household. And, in terms of the health of this population, the multiple indicator survey shows that older women, like all the women in the sample, suffer from chronic diseases more than men, especially hypertension and diabetes.
