Abstract: | This Master thesis is devoted to the study of the Lefschetz fixed point theorem. This
theorem is very important and has many applications in topology, geometry and
analysis. We have developed the essential geometric methods to prove this theorem
and we have adopted the approach of the oriented intersection theory rather than
the homological approach.
We have developed some examples and outlined some important applications
on the geometry and topology of compact manifolds, namely the Poincaré-Hopf
