Shortage of the Literature: Addressing the lack of reading short stories for EFL Students

Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the lack of short stories for EFL students at the University of KasdiMerbah Ouargla and to address this issue. The current research is conducted via a questionnaire given to the students to collect information about their challenges and potential solutions to this literary shortage. Additionally, the questionnaire was designed to capture the extent to which reading short stories is important and to gauge how interested students are in short stories. The results of the questionnaire revealed that students show interest in reading short stories. Moreover, the results indicated that students believe this genre plays a pivotal role in learning and language acquisition, improves their reading skills and language level, and has a positive impact on their studies

La présente étude vise à enquêter sur le manque de nouvelles pour les étudiants en anglais langue étrangère (EFL) à l'Université de KasdiMerbah Ouargla et à aborder cette question. La recherche actuelle est menée par le biais d'un questionnaire distribué aux étudiants afin de recueillir des informations sur leurs défis et les solutions potentielles à cette pénurie littéraire. De plus, le questionnaire a été conçu pour saisir dans quelle mesure la lecture de nouvelles est importante et pour évaluer l'intérêt des étudiants pour les nouvelles.
