Abstract: | The present study aims at developing EST learners’ pragmatic competence in order to write an effective research abstract. After reviewing literature, the study hypothesizes that consciousness raising approach is likely to enhance EST learners’ pragmatic ability via exploiting two methods of teaching; explicit and implicit teaching. The study shows that the proposed methodology to teaching speech acts succeeded to some extent in developing EST learners’ pragmatic competence. |
