Abstract: In the early time of hydrocarbons exploitation, each tank producing hydrocarbons has a pressure called "tank pressure" ; It is the energy (the potential) that allows the liquids to flow from the bottom of the well to the surface, due to the depression produced. As production progresses, the tanks begin to run out, knowing a steady fall in the pressure, and a drop in the eruptive energy. The possible breakthrough of water, which is a relatively heavy fluid, confirm this depletion. This pressure may therefore, at a time, become insufficient to ensure the production in a natural way. At this point, it is said that the well which was eruptive became non-eruptive and requires some artificial methods of production. In the Ourhoud field, they chose the gas lift to maintain the pressure of production but the problem is that the gas is not enough so we suggested to use the submersible electric pump. In this project of final dissertation, we have studied in a first time the installation of both, gas lift and ESP, then, we have made a comparison between them on a well named QB 74. For our study the PROSPER software was used to optimize the production flow in both QB 74 well methods. Finally, we conclude that: despite being too expensive, the pump is more efficient in maintaining the well production pressure compared to the gas lift, so it is the best choice to surrogate the gas lift method.
