Abstract: SONATRACH's new exploration projects at the Hamra Quartzites Reservoir in the Mya river Basin, the Berkine Basin and the Hassi Messaoud field show the existence of exploitable hydrocarbon potential in some areas. An interpretation of Hamra Quartzites reservoir petrophysical parameters derived from cores analysis, shows that these generally weak primary parameters characterize a hard compact and fractured reservoir. Stacking is considered to be one of the most serious operational problems that can lead to a stoppage in drilling, resulting a huge additional costs and significant (NPT). In many cases, these problems lead to subsequent operations and changes in well design. A statistical study identified causes and practical solutions to reduce the stacking impact.
