Abstract: In this work, we have made a characterization of the Frasnian clays, at AEN-1bis well located in the Ain Enakhal field, Ahnet basin within the Algerian Sahara. Our objective is based on the exploitation of natural gamma spectroscopy data, based on the contributions of the K40 potassium, uranium Ur238 and thorium Th232 elements used to estimate the mineralogical composition of sediments and gives an idea of the deposit environment. In addition by coupling them by the other loggings, to confirm or deny the existence of hydrocarbons in general, and shale gas in particular
