Abstract: Heat exchangers are considered one of the main equipment used in the oil industry. Fouling is one of the biggest problems encountered in their operations, leading to a reduction in its thermal performance, which results in considerable economic losses for the oil industry. However, there are several preventive methods that limit this phenomenon but require the knowledge of the appropriate time of intervention. This work presents the results of the fouling study in the heat exchanger12X20400A, from the practical data the objective of the work is the calculation of the fouling resistance and the follow-up of its variation according to the service of the exchanger to predict the right moment of intervention and maintenance by modeling the curves of the fouling resistances by the software curve expert 2.6 and we follow the methods of analysis and cleaning of the deposits of fouling that we have led to study the impact of fouling on the economy of sale of barrels of oil produced in OOS unit. The main results show that the modeling of the fouling resistance is represented by an equation with a correlation coefficient r = 0.9862, the economic study of the fouling is influenced by several parameters from which the recovery is estimated by 15 hours. and 42 minutes when the price per barrel equals $ 50
