Investigating The Effectiveness of Discourse Based Approach on Teaching Vocabulary: The case of third year foreign languages of Mohammed El Eid Al Khalifa high school in Ouargla

Abstract

The aim of this study is to highlight the effectiveness of discourse approach in teaching vocabulary, and to raise the teachers and students awareness toward the importance of context in teaching vocabulary. This research hypothesizes that discourse approach facilitates teaching vocabulary, and most teachers and learners of high school are not aware enough of the effectiveness of discourse approach in teaching vocabulary. For testing this hypotheses, three instruments were applied, a T-test and Questionnaire for pupils of third year foreign languages at Mohammed Eleid Al Khalifa high school and interview for teachers from the same school. Furthermore, the study has adopted the experimental design, and data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Finally the findings proved that discourse approach is beneficial and effective in teaching vocabulary.

Le but de cette étude est de mètre en évidence l’ efficacité de l’ approche base sure le discours dans l’enseignement du vocabulaire. Et de sensibiliser les enseignants et les étudiants a l importance du contexte dans l’enseignement du vocabulaire. Cette recherche fait l’hypothèse que l’approche discursive facilite l’ enseignement du vocabulaire, et la plupart des enseignants et des apprenants du secondaire ne sont pas assez conscients de l efficacité de l approche discursive dans l’ enseignement du vocabulaire .Pour tester cette hypothèse, trois instruments ont été appliques au test et au questionnaire pour les élèves de troisième année étrangère langues au lycée et entretien pour les enseignants de la même école outre l’ étude a adopte le modèle expérimental et les données ont été analysées quantitativement et qualitativement. Enfin, les résultats ont prouve que l approche discursive est bénéfique et efficace dans l enseignement du vocabulaire

تهدف هذه الدّراسة إلى إظهار مدى فعاليّة مقاربة الخطاب في تدريس المفردات، و زيادة وعي التّلاميذ و الأساتذة في تدريس المفردات ضمن سياقها المعيّن،و مفترض في هذا البحث أنّ الأساتذة و التّلاميذ على حد سواء ليسوا على وعي كافٍ بفاعليه تدريس المفردات ضمن سياقها، و أنّ نظرية الخطاب تسهّل تدريس و تعليم المفردات،و لقياس هذه الفرضيّات قمنا باجراء اختبار تجريبي لتلاميذ السنة الثالثة ثانوي لغات في ثانوية محمّد العيد آل خليفة و أيضا توجيه استبيان لهم، بالإضافة إلى اجراء حوار مع ثلاثة أساتذة من نفس الثّانوية. علاوة على ذلك تبنّت الدّراسة المنهج التّجريبي، و تمّ تحليل البيانات من خلال أساليب كمية و نوعية. و قد خلص البحث إلى أنّ تدريس المفردات من خلال مقاربة الخطاب فعّال و مفيد.
