Abstract: The inventory of arthropods in three different types of date palm plantations in Ouargla (south-east of the Sahara) was carried out using the Barber pot method. Indeed, 8 trap pots are installed, at the rate of one series per month, during the period from October 2015 to May 2016. The total richness S is equal to 44 species of arthropods inventoried in level of the organized palm grove of the ex. I.T.A.S., 44 species in the traditional palm grove of El Hadeb and 43 species of arthropods in the poorly maintained palm grove of El-Ksar. The class Insecta dominates in the three types of palm groves respectively in ex. I.T.A.S. (A.R. = 93.8%), in El Hadeb (A.R. = 79.9%) and in El-Ksar (A.R. = 90.7%). Within Insecta, it is the order of Hymenoptera which is the most sought after and which is clearly dominant in the three palm groves, i.e. ex. I.T.A.S. (78.7%) with Pheidole sp. 2, at El Hadeb (53.6%) in particular with Tapinoma negerrimum and Pheidole pallidula and at El-Ksar (60.7%) with especially Pheidole pallidula. By applying the Shannon-Weaver diversity index, it should be noted that El- Hadeb (with traditional planting) constitutes the most diversified environment in terms of species and the best structured.
