Abstract: Culture refers to everything that a person acquires as a member of a society. As a practice with an adaptive dimension, it is the result of the interaction of the individual, or the human being - in general - with his general surroundings, especially in his social aspect, and due to its importance it has become the subject of many scientific and academic studies, within the various fields of knowledge, especially in the field of human sciences, including Philosophy, That is why Hans-Georg Gadamer devoted a great deal of attention to it. He devoted a special section to her in his main book, “Truth and Method,” and assigned her a major role in constructing the issue of understanding in the human sciences hermeneutically, which sparked our curiosity and motivated us to research this issue. Our purpose in this study is to try to clarify this role, relying on an analytical approach. Careful readings of the section devoted to culture in the aforementioned book revealed a constant presence of culture, which led to the conviction that its role in building the centrality of understanding in the human sciences is beyond doubt
