The Effect of Teachers’ Behavior on Improving Students’ Creativity

Abstract

The current research investigated the relationship between teachers' behavior and students' creativity in the English Department of Kasdi Merbah University-Ouargla. The primary objective was to identify specific teacher behaviors that influence students' creativity. The study tested two hypotheses: first, that teachers who employ innovative teaching methods and promote open-ended problem-solving may significantly enhance students' creativity; and second, that teachers who frequently encourage students to share their ideas and thoughts may significantly boost students' creative thinking. To validate these hypotheses, the study focused on second-year English students at Kasdi Merbah University-Ouargla. A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating both qualitative and quantitative research methods. This comprehensive approach allowed for an in-depth exploration of participants' diverse experiences and perspectives while providing statistical rigor to the findings. The target group comprised 32 second-year English students, selected through simple random sampling (SRS), and 13 English teachers during the 2023–2024 academic year. Data collection involved the use of questionnaires and interviews. Descriptive statistics were utilized to analyze the quantitative data, while thematic analysis was applied to the qualitative data. This thorough analysis aimed to generate insights into how teachers' behavior impacts students' creativity. In the context of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), this study examined university-level classrooms where English is taught as a foreign language (EFL). It specifically focused on the influence of various teacher behaviors on students' creative abilities. Key factors explored included classroom atmosphere, classroom management practices, and teacher-student interactions. Through its mixed-methods approach, the study sought to identify and highlight the pivotal behaviors that either foster or hinder creativity in students.

La recherche actuelle a examiné la relation entre le comportement des enseignants et la créativité des élèves dans le Département d'anglais de l'Université Kasdi Merbah-Ouargla. L'objectif principal était d'identifier les comportements spécifiques des enseignants qui influencent la créativité des élèves. L'étude a mis à l'épreuve deux hypothèses : premièrement, que les enseignants qui utilisent des méthodes d'enseignement novatrices et favorisent la résolution de problèmes ouverts peuvent améliorer considérablement la créativité des élèves; et deuxièmement, que ceux qui encouragent fréquemment les élèves à partager leurs idées et leurs pensées peuvent stimuler sensiblement la pensée créative des élèves. Pour valider ces hypothèses, l'étude s'est concentrée sur les étudiants anglais de deuxième année à l'Université Kasdi Merbah-Ouargla. Une approche mixte a été employée, intégrant à la fois des méthodes de recherche qualitatives et quantitatives. Cette approche globale a permis d'explorer en profondeur les différentes expériences et perspectives des participants tout en fournissant une rigueur statistique aux conclusions. Le groupe cible comprenait 32 étudiants de langue anglaise de deuxième année, sélectionnés par simple échantillonnage aléatoire (SRS), et 13 enseignants d'anglais pendant l'année académique 2023-2024. La collecte de données impliquait l'utilisation de questionnaires et d'entretiens. Des statistiques descriptives ont été utilisées pour analyser les données quantitatives, tandis que l'analyse thématique a été appliquée aux données qualitatives. Cette analyse approfondie visait à obtenir des informations sur la façon dont le comportement des enseignants affecte la créativité des élèves. Dans le contexte de l’enseignement de l'anglais comme langue étrangère (TEFL), cette étude a examiné les salles de classe de niveau universitaire où l’anglais est enseigné en tant qu’autre langue. (EFL). Il s'est particulièrement concentré sur l'influence des différents comportements des enseignants sur les capacités créatives des élèves. Les principaux facteurs explorés comprennent l'atmosphère en classe, les pratiques de gestion en classe et les interactions enseignant-élève. Grâce à son approche mixte, l'étude a cherché à identifier et mettre en évidence les comportements essentiels qui favorisent ou entravent la créativité chez les élèves.

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى التحقيق في العلاقة بين سلوكيات الأستاذ وإبداع الطلاب في قسم اللغة الإنجليزية بجامعة قاصدي مرباح ورقلة. الهدف الرئيسي هو تحديد سلوكيات المعلمين التي تؤثر على إبداع الطلاب. تختبر الدراسة فرضيتين؛ الأولى أن الاساتذة الذين يستخدمون أساليب تدريس مبتكرة ويشجعون على حلول المشكلات المفتوحة بشكل كبير سيعززون إبداع الطلاب بشكل ملحوظ مقارنة بأولئك الذين يستخدمون الأساليب التقليدية. الفرضية الثانية، الأساتذة الذين يشجعون الطلاب بانتظام على تعزيز تفكير الطلاب الإبداعي بشكل ملحوظ. للتحقق من هذه الفرضيات، تركز الدراسة على طلاب السنة الثانية من قسم اللغة الإنجليزية في جامعة قاصدي مرباح بورقلة، باستخدام مزيج من الأدوات البحثية مثل الاستبيانات والمقابلات. يتم استخدام هذه الأساليب من أجل تسهيل الموضوع. يسمح هذا النهج باستكشاف عميق لخبرات وآراء المشاركين المتنوعة مع توفير صرامة إحصائية للنتائج. يتكون مجموعة الهدف للدراسة من 32 طالبًا من السنة الثانية لقسم اللغة الإنجليزية تم اختيارهم بالطريقة العشوائية البسيطة و13 أستاذا محاضرا للغة الانجليزية خلال العام الدراسي 2023-2024. تنطوي تحليل البيانات على استخدام الإحصاءات الوصفية للبيانات الكمية والتحليل الموضوعي للبيانات النوعية. يهدف هذا التحليل الشامل إلى توليد رؤى حول كيفية تأثير سلوك الأساتذة على إبداع الطلاب. في سياق تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية، تفحص هذه الدراسة قاعات الدراسة على مستوى الجامعة حيث يتم تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية. تركز على كيفية تأثير سلوكيات الأستاذ المختلفة على قدرات الطلاب الإبداعية. تشمل العوامل الرئيسية التي تم استكشافها الجو الصفي، وممارسات إدارة الصف، وتفاعل الاساتذة مع الطلاب. من خلال المنهجين، تسعى الدراسة إلى فهم وإبراز السلوكيات الحيوية التي تعزز أو تعيق عملية الإبداع لدى الطلاب.
