Abstract: In recent years, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and vehicle speed estima- tion systems have become essential to enhance safety and security such as traffic management, highway speed monitoring and stolen vehicle detection. This has created an urgent need for automated systems that can monitor speeding vehicles and facilitate appropriate enforcement actions, thereby supporting the development of comprehensive monitoring systems. This article aims to implement a system using YOLOv8 and the SORT algorithm. The proposed model first detects vehicles, then estimates their speed, and finally recognizes the license plates of speeding vehicles. Through this approach, we aim to demonstrate an efficient method for real-time traffic monitoring and enforcement.
