Abstract: In this paper, AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XNOR, NOR, NOR, NOR, NOT, and XOR logic gate structures based on 2D photonic crystals were proposed and simulated using a T- and Y- shaped composite structure. Their optical engineering parameters have been optimized to enable them to exploit the 1550nm communication wavelength. These gates can com- pete with their predecessors in size, contrast ratio, response time, and ease of integration. The simulation results were analyzed using the finite difference time domain method (FDTD). The plane wave analysis method (PWE) calculated the band gap. We obtained a response time in the range of 0.2 ps at all studied gates.
