The Role of Research and Development in Achieving Technological Innovation Case of Study in Shlumberger Company(SLB) during the period (2010-2022)

Abstract

This study aims to explores the role of research and development (R&D) in achieving technological innovation at SLB company. The study utilized a descriptive analytical approach to assess R&D activities by calculating input and output indices. The input index considered the company's expenditure on R&D activities and the ratio of R&D workers to total workers, while the output index included metrics such as the number of patents acquired and the development of products, processes, and services. Through a descriptive analytical methodology, the study employed these indicators to evaluate the variables. The results revealed a significant positive correlation between R&D investment and technological innovation at SLB. Specifically, an increase in R&D spending and investment directly correlated with enhanced levels of technological innovation. In summary, the study affirms that R&D investment plays a crucial role in driving technological innovation at SLB.

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى استكشاف دور البحث والتطوير في تحقيق الابتكار التكنولوجي في شركة SLB. استخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لتقييم أنشطة البحث والتطوير من خلال حساب مؤشرات المدخلات والمخرجات. يأخذ مؤشر المدخلات بعين الاعتبار إنفاق الشركة على أنشطة البحث والتطوير ونسبة العاملين في مجال البحث والتطوير إلى إجمالي العاملين، في حين يتضمن مؤشر المخرجات مقاييس مثل عدد براءات الاختراع المكتسبة وتطوير المنتجات والعمليات والخدمات. ومن خلال المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، استخدمت الدراسة هذه المؤشرات لتقييم المتغيرات. وكشفت النتائج عن وجود علاقة إيجابية كبيرة بين الاستثمار في البحث والتطوير والابتكار التكنولوجي في SLB. وعلى وجه التحديد، ارتبطت الزيادة في الإنفاق على البحث والتطوير والاستثمار بشكل مباشر بمستويات أعلى من الإبداع التكنولوجي.وفي الختام، تؤكد الدراسة أن الاستثمار في البحث والتطوير يلعب دورًا حاسمًا في دفع الابتكار التكنولوجي في SLB.
