This study provides a detailed analysis of the geological sections in the Bled Aïna area, northwestern Algeria, during the Tortonian stage of the Miocene, aiming to reconstruct paleoenvironmental conditions related to sedimentary processes. Lithological and micro faunal analyses revealed a marked variation in environmental attributes, allowing the distinction between two contrasting regimes of stability and instability. The lower levels exhibit features of a stable marine setting with low energy and calm sedimentation, while the upper levels indicate an unstable environment with increased energy and disturbed physical and chemical conditions. This variation highlights the dynamic paleoecological evolution of the Tafna Basin during the Tortonian and its sensitivity to changes in energy, marine currents, and degrees of restriction or openness. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the basin’s paleoenvironmental history and lay the groundwork for future advanced research.en_US
