dc.description.abstractThe Cambrian Hassi Messaoud reservoir is one of the key reservoirs in Eastern Algeria and North Africa. It comprises four main units, with the Ra unit being the most significant, subdivided into six reservoirs (D4 to Z PSG), along with D5 in the RI zone. This study evaluates microfacies types and pore architecture to assess reservoir quality. Detailed petrographic analysis, SEM observations, and data from 5108 core samples were used to study porosity, permeability, and reservoir quality indicators such as FZI, RQI, DRT, and R35. Six Petrophysical Static Rock Types (PSRTs) were identified. PSRT1 exhibited the best quality due to high quartz content and diagenetic features like dissolution and fracturing, while PSRT6 had the poorest quality due to compaction, cementation, and high authigenic clay. Intermediate types (PSRT2–PSRT5) showed varied characteristics influenced by diagenesis. This study underlines the importance of detailed rock characterization in evaluating reservoir quality in Cambrian formations.en_US
