Investigating the Relevance of ESP Course Content to learners’ Needs

Abstract

This study attempts to evaluate the extent to which ESP course offered at the NVTI in

Said Otba – Ouargla meets HSE learners’ needs. Thus, it is hypothesized that ESP course taught there may meet the needs of the learners. To check the hypothesis of this study, two procedures are used. First, a questionnaire addressed to the ten (10) trainees of “Health, Security and Environment” at the institute. Second, a quasi- experimental method is conducted to the same learners there. The results obtained confirm the proposed hypothesis to some extent. We have completed the study with a set of recommendations to be followed in designing effective ESP course.

Cette étude essaie d’évaluer si le cours de la langue anglaise sur objectifs spécifiques offert au niveau de l’Institut Nationale de formation a Said Otba Ouargla satisfait les besoins des étudiants. Donc, l’hypothèse propose que le cours enseigné là peut-être satisfaire les besoins des étudiants. Pour tester cette hypothèse, on utilise deux procédures, la première est un questionnaire adressé aux 10 étudiants de « Hygiène, Sécurité et Environnement » à l’Institut. Le deuxième est une méthode quasi-expérimentale a fait aux mêmes étudiants. Les résultats obtenus confirment l’hypothèse proposée a un certain point. L’étude est conclue par des suggestions proposées pour l’amélioration du cours.

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تقييم مدى تناسب دروس اللغة الإنجليزية للأهداف الخاصة المقدمة لطلبة المعهد الوطني المختص في التكوين المهني بمنطقة سعيد عتبة – ورقلة و حاجياتهم. لذلك افترضنا أن دروس اللغة الإنجليزية المقدمة هناك يمكن أن تتماشى مع حاجيات المتعلمين. لاختبار صحة الفرضية، استعملنا وسيلتين. الوسيلة الأولى عبارة على اسبيان وزعناه على المتكونين العشرة في تخصص "نظافة، أمن و بيئة" في المعهد. أما الوسيلة الثانية فهي عبارة على منهج شبه تجريبي طبق على نفس العينة. دعمت النتائج المتوصل إليها الفرضية نسبيا. ختمنا دراستنا بمجموعة من الاقتراحات التي يفترض أن تتَبع أثناء تصميم دروس مفيدة في اللغة الإنجليزية للأهداف الخاصة.
