Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors influencing this impact, such as the quality of content, time spent using social media, and engagement in virtual communities, and to examine how social media affects different groups of young people differently. Cultural identity is a vital part of shaping personality and society; therefore, studying the impact of social media on this identity helps in understanding the potential changes occurring within the community. The study employed a descriptive methodology, applied to a purposive sample of 131 young individuals. The study's findings emphasize that the impact of social media on the cultural identity of youth is a complex and multidimensional process, requiring further research and reflection on how to achieve a balance between openness to other cultures and the preservation of the original cultural identity. The study concluded by offering recommendations to various concerned groups to support the cultural identity of youth in the face of the diverse impacts of social media. These recommendations include raising awareness among young people about the importance of preserving their cultural identity and encouraging content that promotes local cultural values, while maintaining a balance that strengthens the identity and culture of youth amidst digital transformations.
