This research focuses on the study and modeling of the efficiency of new composite materials for use in radiation shielding in radiotherapy rooms. A comparison was made between a group of high-density oxides such as tantalum oxide, tungsten oxide, cerium oxide, bismuth oxide, in addition to barite concrete. The study highlighted the use of the Phy-X/PSD program to calculate the fundamental physical attenuation parameters. The results showed that bismuth oxide (Bi₂O₃), with a density reaching 8.90 g/cm³, is the best and most promising material for providing superior radiation protection. This allows the design of more efficient and thinner shields to secure medical working environments against high-energy radiation. Keywords: ionizing radiation, radiation protection, attenuation coefficients, heavy metal oxides-
