| Abstract: | This study aims to highlight the importance of channeling waqf (Islamic endowment) funds towards achieving food security in Algeria, through a practical proposal to establish an investment waqf fund specialized in grain production. The study is based on the hypothesis that modern and institutionalized waqf investment can help reduce food dependency, support local agricultural production, and promote sustainable development in the agricultural sector. It covers the theoretical framework of waqf and its developmental prospects, analyzes the current state of food security in Algeria, and proposes a model for an investment waqf fund to finance productive projects related to grain cultivation, storage, and distribution. The study concludes that waqf can serve as a strategic tool to support national food security policies, provided that a sound legal framework, good governance, and cooperation among the state, private sector, and civil society are ensured. |
