This study presents an advanced quantitative and physical analysis of the elastic properties of calcium oxide (CaO) in its B1 cubic phase under hydrostatic pressures up to 59 GPa, employing Density Functional Theory within the PBEsol approximation coupled with the Christoffel equation for comprehensive three-dimensional wave propagation modeling. The results reveal a selective lattice stiffening mechanism, wherein the maximum longitudinal wave velocity increases from 8.104 to 12.813 km/s (+58.14 %) along the <100> direction, while the minimum transverse velocity along <001> paradoxically decreases from 4.74 to 3.71 km/s (−21.7 %), thereby expanding the relative anisotropy ratio from 2.04 % to 32.19 %. The maximum volumetric elastic energy density escalates by 230 %, whereas shear energy components exhibit directional disparities exceeding 380 %; remarkably, the total elastic energy maintains perfect macroscopic homogeneity (190.09 → 435.08 J/m³) through systematic compensation between volumetric and shear contributions. The invariance of preferred crystallographic directions for extremal values across all pressure regimes constitutes definitive evidence for the dynamic stability of the Rock-salt phase without any pressure-induced structural transition. These findings establish CaO as a paradigmatic reference system for elucidating vibrational energy transport in ionic oxides under extreme conditions, with significant implications for geophysical seismic modeling and the rational design of advanced ceramic materials.
