Abstract: Water contamination by , particularly , is one of the most pressing environmental challenges today due to its high persistence and resistance to biodegradation. This dissertation aims to synthesize and characterize iron-based Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) — the reference compound MIL-101(Fe) and its nickel-doped counterpart Ni-doped MIL-101(Fe) — prepared via a hydrothermal method, to evaluate their efficiency in removing paracetamol from aqueous solutions through adsorption. The materials were characterized using XRD, FTIR, and SEM, while UV-Vis spectroscopy at paracetamol's maximum absorption wavelength (241-243 nm) monitored adsorption kinetics. The results revealed a spectral overlap between the H2BDC linker's absorption band and paracetamol's, requiring structural confirmation via FTIR/SEM. Nickel doping was shown to enhance chemical affinity and selectivity toward paracetamol and accelerate surface reaction kinetics.
