les futures opérations de réhabilitation The diagnosis of the sanitation network in the Touggourt region reveals several signs of deterioration, particularly affecting sewer manholes. These degradations are mainly attributed to the inadequacy of the materials used, especially the use of low-performance concrete that is not suited to the aggressive physico-chemical conditions of the soil and wastewater. This incompatibility negatively impacts the durability and overall performance of the infrastructure. As part of improving the materials used in the sanitation network, enhancing local resources, particularly by utilizing crushed sand derived from rock crushing in the Hassi Messaoud region for concrete production, represents one of the most effective and promising solutions. The primary objective of this study is, in the first phase, to evaluate the effect of replacing alluvial sand with crushed sand on the mechanical performance of concrete exposed to aggressive soil. The substitution rates tested were 40%, 45%, 50%, 55%, 60%, and 100%. The results showed that the 50% ratio is the best in terms of mechanical strength. In the second phase, concrete mixes containing 50% crushed sand were prepared, with and without the addition of a Sika-type water repellent, and stored under Real conditions of wastewater. The obtained results demonstrated a noticeable improvement in mechanical strength. Complementary durability studies showed a reduction in harmful hydration products compared to the reference concrete formulated with 100% alluvial sand. Finally, for major structures, particularly the foremost collectors, prototype sewer manholes were fabricated using GRP (glass-reinforced plastic). Real-world tests confirmed their excellent resistance to the aggressive chemical agents present in the soil and wastewater, thus offering a viable alternative for future rehabilitation projects |
