Sand production is a major and recurring problem in the oil industry, causing a decline in the productivity of producing wells due to formation damage and the loss of well integrity. This work aims to study the mechanisms of sand production and the methods to address it. Candidate wells Well 1, Well 2 and Well 3 were studied in this context through the collection and analysis of production data: a sand production rate of 800 g/hr; a Basic Sediment and Water content BSW of 41%; well test data; acoustic system data; and the well integrity sheet. The use of PROSPER software allowed for illustrating the IPR of the wells with and without sand control completion. A sieve test was conducted on two samples of two types of reservoir rocks Cambrian and TAGI, from which grain size distribution was determined 0.01mm to 4mm. The results showed that surface flow management allowed a reduction in sand production. However, surface management alone is insufficient to fully address this phenomenon, as the problem may originate downhole, as observed in Well 3. Furthermore, regarding cost, sand flowback testing is estimated at 220,000 USD and represents only a periodic solution, while a permanent solution can be implemented at 1,110,000 USDen_US
