Corrosion represents one of the major challenges facing the oil and gas industry, leading to significant economic losses and operational risks. Among the various corrosion control methods, imidazoline-based compounds have attracted considerable attention due to their excellent adsorption properties and their ability to form protective films on metallic surfaces. The present work focuses on the synthesis of an imidazoline derivative from soybean oil, a renewable and environmentally friendly raw material. The synthesis was carried out through the reaction of soybean oil-derived fatty acids with a polyamine precursor under controlled experimental conditions. The obtained product was characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) to verify the formation of the targeted imidazoline structure. The FTIR results revealed characteristic absorption bands associated with the imidazoline ring and supported the formation of the targeted structure of the desired compound. In addition, a comparative analysis with previously reported studies was performed in order to evaluate the quality of the synthesized product. The obtained spectra showed a good agreement with literature data, indicating the formation of the targeted imidazoline derivative. Considering the requirements of oil and gas production systems, the study also investigated the potential industrial application of the synthesized imidazoline. A preliminary ready-to-use corrosion inhibitor formulation was proposed by combining the active compound with selected solvents and additives. The proposed formulation was designed to improve solubility, dispersion, adsorption efficiency, and protective film stability under corrosive environments containing carbon dioxide (CO₂), hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), and saline water. The findings of this work support the feasibility of preparing a bio-based imidazoline derivative for further evaluation from soybean oil and highlight its potential for future development as an environmentally sustainable corrosion protection solution for oil and gas applications
