Abstract

The aim of this contribution is stressing the importance of collaborative learning and its relation to the new technologies. Computers are popular social communication technology enabling students to collaborate and share knowledge; also the technical capabilities that offer the internet and the new participatory-based and user-generated sites are helping education to shift to an entirely new paradigm which supports the relations between teachers and learners. We investigate how universities use the potential for emerging technologies under the banner of web 2.0 and the different Learning Manager Systems (LMSs) to facilitate the fulfillment of all learners’s needs and to enhance student online and distance learning.
