Abstract: This study aims to highlight on the civil society and democratic challenge in Algeria based on highlighting the role played by civil society as one of the prominent and important actors in the course of the democratic process and that depends on its nature in terms of its independence, good organization, efficiency and transparency in addition to the nature of the political, social and cultural environment in which the civil society works and when the institutions of civil society be strengthened and supported It will contributes to stabilizing and strengthening democracy while the absence of these essential mechanisms will inevitably lead to weak effectiveness and its limited influence on decision-making institutions and thus impede political and democratic development
