| Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to evaluate and maximize the performance of novel cementing materials for horizontal drilling operations with a particular focus on their application in directional wells. The research discusses horizontal well-specific issues such as wellbore instability, eccentric casing, and difficulty in cement placement, stressing the importance of superior materials to ensure zonal isolation and well integrity. The work begins with the creation and formulation of advanced cement slurries using new additives to counter common issues of fluid migration and stress-induced cracking. Laboratory experiments are devised to examine material composition and behavior under simulated wellbore conditions. Quality is managed after experimental well cementing using state-of-the-art assessment methods like Cement Bond Logs (CBL) and Variable Density Logs (VDL) for assessing bonding quality and zonal isolation. Data interpretation of these logs is carried out with the assistance of Techlog software to identify bonding problems, determine the effectiveness of the cement, and make a comparison between conventional and advanced materials. Results provide valuable feedback on how innovative materials and improved placement practices can be employed to eliminate cementing problems. The aim of this study is to improve the effectiveness and longevity of cementing operations applied in horizontal wells, as well as to serve as a reference for future use and studies in this field |
