Abstract: This dissertation addresses the geological and petrophysical characterization of the LD2 tight carbonate reservoir at the Hassi R'mel field, Algeria, and the evaluation of acid fracturing as the primary stimulation technique for its commercial development. The work integrates the structural and geological analysis of the field, the petrophysical and geomechanical characterization of carbonate rocks, the scientific principles of acid fracturing, and a field case study on three wells of contrasting geological character and completion geometry. The study establishes that the multiphase diagenetic history of the LD2 reservoir is the fundamental determinant of treatment performance, and that carbonate mineralogy and field-measured hydraulic fluid efficiency are the two parameters governing treatment success.
