Abstract: This experimental and laboratory study focuses on enhancing the productivityof aconventional basin solar still by integrating it with a solar parabolic trough concentrator loop. The research evaluates and compares the heat transfer efficiency of two distinct workingfluids: fresh motor oil and recycled, eco-friendly used motor oil. The field results revealedthat the improved system operating with the fresh oil loop exhibited a rapid thermal response, which accelerated the morning evaporation kinetics and significantly boosted cumulativefreshwater productivity. On the other hand, the used motor oil demonstrated an excellent capacity for localized thermal energy storage, acting as an efficient heat buffer that extendedthe active distillation process well into the late afternoon and evening hours. Physicochemical laboratory analyses validated the high purity and quality of the produced distillate. Adrasticand comprehensive decline in electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, salinity, andturbidity was recorded compared to the raw brackish tap water feed, confirmingtheproduction of safe, mineral-free water with absolute structural containment and no tracesofhydrocarbon contamination
