Abstract: This thesis investigates the crucial aspect of well control during drilling operations in the presence of gas kicks. It comprises four chapters covering drilling generalities, well control equipment, kicks and well control methods, and a practical case study of well MDZ729 That provides an overview of drilling operations and discusses the importance of well control equipment in maintaining wellbore integrity. It explores gas kicks, their causes, and associated risks, focusing on the driller's method and the wait and weight method as primary well control techniques. In the case study of well MDZ729, both methods are employed to control a gas kick. Detailed calculations and the completion of a kill sheet are performed, followed by a comprehensive comparison of the two methods
