Abstract

This study concerns the characterization of clays from the Timassine region in Touggourt, northeastern Sahara of Algeria. The study area belongs to the Saharan platform and is marked by Quaternary deposits of sands, clays, and gypsum formed in lacustrine environments during the drying of lagoons and chotts. Several laboratory methods were applied, including mineralogical, granulometric, chemical, and geotechnical analyses, to describe the nature of these materials and evaluate their potential use in construction.
